Democracy Update: Tuesday 4th April 2006
Here's a few links to Democracy news around the world at 21:00 GMT
- He's gone! The Thai PM has finally resigned after weeks of protest - quite how he thought he could continue anyway is beyond me. But some are now fearing he is attempting to install a puppet Prime Minister...
- The Ethiopian government has finally liberalised the airwaves. A new radio station broadcasting opposition views has launched. Too little, too late?
- Kyrgyzstan's revolution day has been rejected by it's legislature. As the body said, an "objective assessment" of the uprising is needed before declaring the day a national holiday.
- And the clock is ticking in Ukraine. RadioFreeEurope/RadioLiberty looks at some potential coalitions in Parliament. Apparently Yushchenko won't make a decision until April 7. 3 days and counting.
That's all for now, take care
Matt Jay
