Reflections On Hong Kong Demonstration

A mass rally for full democracy in Hong Kong is unlikely to win any concessions from Beijing and threatens to halt faltering steps towards reform, analysts said.

Tens of thousands of people marched through Hong Kong's streets on Sunday, demanding a swift transition to full democracy promised when Britain handed its former colony back to China eight years ago.

Democrats called for the mass rally, frustrated with a package of limited constitutional reforms proposed by chief executive Donald Tsang.
